1. Engine Speed Sensor

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 using an uncolored wire. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate fuel, timig and boost. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and the location of the camshaft in order to activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of line with the Intake Camshaft. However, the error code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It is a little tricky to test as there are various pins on the connector and each has its own functions. The best way to do it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is fully operational, it should be reading around 1000 ohms. Look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if there are issues with this component.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll, i experienced an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or the injectors are not firing at all. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs, three were drenched in gazoline, the fourth one was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each hole in the injector and when I start the engine without sparks, the ones with gazoline jump right out. The 4th one remains closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I think the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected and runs fine when it is connected however it is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of that is -49c even after unplugging it. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar, whereas the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I'm not certain what to do, as i feel i have pretty much ruled out everything else. But i'm worried that I may have missed something. Let me know if you have any ideas! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles.
