The 2 open areas at Amerson River Park are the great Plain and Lawson Area. Both have a lush grassy area, with ample space for a big scale event, resembling a concert or performance. Park hours are from 9:00am until dusk. Having been completely renovated in 2007, Pelican Beach Park is a wonderful place to have a family gathering or company picnic. The park has 6 pavilions you can rent all equipped with various size grills. The smallest pavilion can accommodate 12 folks whereas the biggest can hold as much as 70. Rentals are available between 9:00am till dusk. This playground is immediately across from the Sea Grape pavilion. One picnic area, with a capacity of 112 is also out there for rent and has 14 picnic tables and a big charcoal grill. Guests to Area 4 can make the most of the Life Course Path and horseshoe pits. Restrooms are available. Alcohol is permitted in cans or bottles. Keg beer is not allowed. Area 5 is across the street from the Whale Wallow Nature Middle and has picnic tables available on a primary-come, first-served foundation.
